Young's Brewery in London (who make a hell of a good pint) has been told to take down billboards that apparently are seen by the Advertising Standards Authority as linking the drinking of alcohol with social and sexual success. The ads showed a man with a ram's head (the symbol of the brewery) by a swimming pool, surrounded by women in bikinis, along with the slogan, "This is a Ram's world." A Young's spokesperson denied that the ads linked beer with sexual success. Meantime, back in the States Budweiser will be the exclusive malt beverage and alcohol promotional partner of the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and will host the SI Super Swimsuit Party in Detroit on Feb. 4, and the official issue release party in New York City on Feb. 14. Apart from the fact that a truckload of Budweiser couldn’t affect a 98 pond model as much as a single pint of Young’s. It’s obvious that no rams, goats or satyrs will be invited to any of the SI events.![]()
