So, Kaplan Thaler picks up pills (see my earlier post) but loses Panasonic. Seems like they were not invited to re-pitch the account. Agencies expected to respond to the RFP in the $60 million Panasonic review have until Jan. 11 to get back to consultancy Pile and Co.(wouldn’t you think that if you were unfortunate enough to have a name like that, you'd do something about it?) Which plans to have a shortlist of about six semifinalists by Jan. 18. Shops expected to respond include Arnold and Euro RSCG; Deutsch (Donny will wear his Speedo to the pitch) Lowe (If they still exist by then) Merkley + Partners, Fallon (Ditto on maybe existing) Saatchi & Saatchi, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Berlin Cameron (Andy will wear his corset) and Y&R.
A decision is expected by the end of February. At which time the losing five agencies will be that much closer to bankruptcy, along with their existing clients who will be faced with paying the bill for the spec work done by their agencies when they should have been working on their accounts.
