
Hilton Hotels will launch its first television advertising campaign in more than 10 years via Y&R when it rolls out new spots on Jan. 15. In common with most hotel advertising it’s guaranteed to be full of all the usual visual clichés backed up by the usual inane copy. And if you don’t think so, check out the new tag line… “Travel should take you places.” Brilliant guys, forget the Ritz Carlton, it’s the Hilton for me from now on. According to the agency, “The campaign will center on the concept of travel being more than just going from Point A to Point B, and will focus on the transformation travel can have at the personal level.” Hey, unless you’re paying a couple of grand a night, the only transformation a Hilton could do for me would be after a dozen “Mariners Grogs” in the basement Trader Vic’s. Even better if Paris is paying the tab!![]()
