Dontchaluvit when agencies are so bereft of original thinking they have to do an “Homage” (that’s adspeak for ripoff) on what another agency is doing for a competitor. Apparently, because Burger King’s plastic king is doing so well, McDonald’s is bringing back its clown, Ronald McDonald…. In plastic! Created by TBWA/Chiat/Day, Calif., the commercials aim to “share how our customers relate to the world’s most famous clown and the bond they have with our brand,” said a McDonald’s spokesman. “They are reminiscent of the McDonald’s spots of years ago that tug at your heartstrings.” Oh pullleeeze. Give me a break. You have to be drunk, or high, or work for a big and ugly fast food company to come up with soporific bilge like that. They’d better be careful though. In the past plastic Ronald McD’s have been kidnapped, burned and even hung and dismembered. Seems to me that kind of fate should be reserved for company spokespeople who talk crap!![]()
Don't blame me. It was the "Spokeperson." They'll pay the ransom, I'm sure!
