I don’t care what anyone says, the toughest job in an agency is being the CD. Fallon just proved it by firing CD Paul Silburn less than a year after he joined the agency and after a dismal new business record. Chairman Pat Fallon said, “Paul is a brilliant creative, international talent, and a great guy, but I am not satisfied with our progress. I needed to make a change and that change called for decisiveness.” In other words, Paul is toast and has to take the blame for everything, including those 250 Power Point slides that formed the basis of every new business presentation. OK, maybe some of it was his fault, but that’s why you get the big bucks… Briefly! Fallon hired Mr. Silburn, previously deputy creative of Omnicom Group's TBWA, London, as executive creative director in 2004. He replaced David Lubars, who left to become CD at Star shagging BBDO Worldwide, New York. No doubt Mr. Lubars is even now ramping up the Cindy Crawford/Jason Alexander TV spot ratio to mind boggling proportions. Meanwhile Mr. Silburn will probably return to London, where he will drown his sorrows at the Frog and Nightgown on Putney High Street!![]()
Nice to see you back Mr. Silburn... Mine's a Boddingtons, ta.
