Advertising, ad campaigns, ad agencies, and the people that make it happen

I never cease to be amazed at how many “holidays” Americans are prepared to spend their hard earned cash on. Unlike Europe, where holidays are day’s people don’t work, and are peppered (apologies for using “CheneySpeak there) throughout the calendar in addition to the six or seven weeks vacation most civilized countries award their citizens. Anyway, we just got rid of Valentines day, (traditionally the time you sent a secret valentine to the one you loved, unlike yesterday having the guy in my local bank wish me a “Happy Valentine’s Day!”) And now we’re on to “St Patrick’s Day. Starbucks in New England today begin serving the “Leprechaun Latte,” a peppermint-mocha-flavored beverage topped with green whipped cream. Give me a break, what’s next… Green beer? Oh, forgot, they’ve been selling that in Boston and New York on St Paddy’s day since before “Eric the Red” discovered America! Hey, didn’t he do that on Feb 16^th, 867? Mine’s a pint of “Red!”
