I love reading the ad trades, ‘cos they never fail to reinforce my opinion that advertising is the dumbest business in the world. Today’s AdWeek trumpets the news that B.F. Goodrich has cut the number of semifinalists in the review of its estimated $15-20 million account to seven, according to the consultant conducting the search. To which I must ask the question… Since when did any competition end up at the penultimate stage with more than four semi-finalists? Maybe it’s just a way of encouraging the seven idiot agencies still left in (there were 14 to begin with) to spend big bucks on the presentation ‘cos they think they have a one in four chance of winning the account!
Do the math schmuck!!!
