J. K. Rowling is already a multi-millionaire, but the news today that Scholastic has announced an online contest in anticipation of the July release of the paperback version of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, means she’s guaranteed a few more million for her pension fund. When you think about it, the whole thing is a brilliant marketing plan to draw attention to a book that’s already sold 6.9 million hardcover copies. Scholastic says they’ll print an additional two million paperback versions, with a suggested retail price of $9.99. And if JK is on the usual 5 – 10% commission that’s more than enough to fight off evil old Lord Voldamort.
That's funny. I could have sworn I never used to have a nose!
