News that Segway is looking to new agency, Saltworks to help build its brand via the Internet and direct marketing efforts, reminded me of how this once much hyped company has slipped off the radar. Apparently, the review was driven in part by the arrival last March of the company’s fourth CEO in as many years, who is trying to ramp up marketing to increase sales. The company has said it would focus on national high-volume buyers such as Disney, the U.S. military and local police departments. Well, if I were buying for the military, I wouldn’t bother with Segways, I’d move right on up to the Badonkadunk Land Cruiser/Tank.
