Today’s news that the makers of “I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!” have decided to pull the plug on aging beefcake honcho “Fabio” reminded me of a story told to me by my old mate Graham Rose, famed British TV spot director, when I was shooting some stuff in London a couple of years ago. They were all off in New Zealand doing a spot for ICBINB that involved some gypsy’s – one of whom was a midget! – kidnapping a princess and whisking her away in one of their caravans. She is rescued by Fabio, who leaps from a tree knocking over the driver of the caravan, then he and the princess drive off into the sun. Problem was, he kept missing the caravan and messing up his golden tresses. Eventually they got it done with a stunt double and rumors are that Fabio rode off with the midget! Isn’t advertising great?![]()
Fabio with his identical twin brother!

How sad. And this being the week of Fabio's birthday. Which he shares, need I remind you, with Ruth Bader Ginsburg - solid evidenbce for the truth of astrology.
