As I’ve said for years, the one truly different business model that came out of the dot com era was eBay. Everything else was merely an electronic version of something that already existed. Well, the other thing that’s really different about eBay are the amazing things put on there for auction. Right now you can buy a used Apache helicopter
for 49,000,000 British Pounds, the seller can arrange type rating in the Belgian Congo! Truly “Dogs of War” stuff.
And while you’re at it, you can buy a genuine, original Enigma Code Breaking machine, circa 1941 as used by the Nazis for U Boat transmissions. That little gem is looking to
make 40,000 Euros. And to think it all started with someone flogging off their old Pez dispensers!
Anyone got 49 million quid I can borrow?

Must admit that due to the huge impact that Ebay has had on the online marketplace it seems to be the first place that people think of to sell on and as such you will get 'anything' that you want. It has also become a yardstick for what an item is worth.
