In common with most other Western countries that suffer from the ubiquitous curse of the fast food industry, advertisers in Britain are now concentrating on “Healthier” options, with TV and print campaigns promoting stuff a bit healthier than a “Fat Burger and Chips!” The problem is, when you look a little more closely at some of these options, you’re in for a surprise. A McDonald's chicken Caesar salad, for instance, has 323 calories - more than the 300 calories in its cheeseburger. The new reduced sugar Frosties cereal is still 25 per cent sugar. And many of the new "healthier," and very expensive, flavored waters are sugary fizzy drinks in a new guise. Even when chocolate manufacturers pledged to get rid of king size bars more than a year ago after concerns about oversized portions, within months, the same bars reappeared with new labels describing them as "for sharing". Thankfully, the American curse of tasteless and flavorless “Light Beer,” hasn’t made much of an impression on the British Pub! So, mines a pint of beer that tastes like beer… Cheers!![]()
