US Sports fans often fail to realize how big and lucrative a game football (what American’s call soccer) is in the rest of the world. News out of Britain today that Manchester United is set to unveil Gibraltar-based online gambling company, Mansion, as its $100million shirt sponsor is substantially more money than any US team, irrespective of the sport, could expect to get for wearing a small logo on the back of the team shirts. The deal, believed to be worth $22million a year for four years, dwarfs the previous $14m-a-year cell phone giant Vodafone was paying. An announcement is expected from the Glazer family, (a bunch of Yanks that dare not show their faces at United’s Old Trafford ground for fear of being lynched!) who controversially took over the world's most famous club for $1200million last year, in a few days. It would seem that Malcolm Glazer's son Bryan Glazer, who was responsible for the commercial resurgence of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, headed the search for a sponsor -- believed to be the biggest sponsorship deal for a sports club anywhere to date. The $100 million contract would go some way towards helping Manchester United reclaim the title of the world's richest sporting club. Also the birthplace of one of its most talented sons… Me!!!![]()
Now, that's what I call a football stadium. With real grass!

Stock is a piece of ownership of a company. When a company needs to acquire extra money to help grow the business, they can sell some or all of the ownership of the company in the form of stocks. So if you were to buy 100% of a company stock, you would own the whole company. If you own enough stock you also have some decision-making power within the company. Buying stock is a very popular form of investing.
