Today’s BrandWeek has a piece about a new Tylenol PM campaign that will try and address the average American’s somewhat “sleep deprived” state of life. All this because it’s commonly accepted Americans need eight hours of sleep a night to function at their best, and equally accepted that most people don’t get that much. So, starting March 27, the sleep-deprived can call 866-448-9579 and hear free “sleep tips” from renowned sleep expert Dr. James Maas. Well, here’s my theory of why most Americans are “sleep challenged” or whatever the current phrase is… It’s ‘cos they don’t have enough time off. In Europe, the average vacation is about 6 weeks a year. OK, before we hear about the lazy Europeans, they actually enjoy a better quality of life. Here in the US, people have what I call fake holidays… For example, today is Saint Patrick’s day, so everyone working in the bank or supermarket is wearing green, just like at Halloween, they’re all dressed as witches or Darth Vador… But, they’re all still at work. All I can say is forget the fancy costumes… Give me the time off!![]()
Wake me up when Halloween is over!
