Pardon me while I weep on the news that the Advertising Council and Environmental Defense today unveiled a new public service campaign to fight global warming. It would seem the work includes 15-second and 30-second television commercials and 60-second radio spots. Print, outdoor and Web ads will be introduced in May. Ogilvy & Mather NYC created the campaign. PSAs direct people to www.fightglobalwarming.com, for information about global warming and ways Americans can reduce their impact on the planet. Like, maybe stop driving Humvees etc… Nahh! Various spots show tired old clichés about how we are not leaving a nice place for our various offspring. But, who cares about offspring… They’ll be here! We’ll be gone!!! The campaign was created from the assumption that global warming exists, (Wow, that’s kinda deep!) said Josh Tavlin, co-creative director of the campaign. "We accept the view that there’s a problem, we are not discussing the causes. That's for scientists "The work is designed to provoke viewers, not offend them. I don't think we’re going out on a limb," he said. We’ll, Josh, all I can say is you’re probably a 24 year old wanker who has no idea what a dumb statement you just made, but, no problemo, you’ll probably be sucking up all those sulfurous fumes long after I’m six feet under. And hey, you never know, your dumb campaign might just win you a CLEO!!! Meantime, Get down to the White Horse Tavern and drink a Boddington’s for me… Just make sure you sit on the very same barstool Dylan fell off after 23 straight Bushmill’s. Ahh, the good old days, when the Village was the Village! ![]()
Ah, yes, my office away from the office in New York. My apartment was two blocks away... Altogether too tempting. Ask the Count!

PSAs crack me up. I love the stuff from Saatchi for the ASPCA with the puppy and the bag and the brick. Is it supposed to be alarming or funny?
