There was a niece piece in last week’s Washington Post about JDG Communications Inc. a Falls Church company winning a contract worth up to $25 million over five years to provide the General Services Administration with advertising, marketing, branding and communications services. Unlike the usual glitz most people think of when it comes to the ad agency biz, the JDG people stressed they had been hired, not to come up with snappy slogans or to burnish the public image of the federal government's purchasing experts. Rather, they say, their goal is to make sure those who purchase supplies within the government know about the options the GSA offers as an alternative to, for example, ordering supplies directly from Staples. "They have to create awareness about the services they have because there are other sources people can buy from," said JDG President Leonard Johnson. "They have a best-value proposition that sometimes is lost." It may not be as glamorous as doing a bunch of Nike commercials, but it’s doing the right job for the right people. And, paying the rent at the same time.![]()
