Why does the news today that McCann Worldgroup in San Francisco has hired former OgilvyOne chief operating officer Joe Burton as COO on the global Microsoft account, not surprise me? Possibly ‘cos everyone on the Microsoft account originally came out of O&M New York after working on IBM. The alumni even include Matt Ross, McCann Worldgroup president and chief executive of the global Microsoft account. My spies at O&M tell me the phone lines between SF and NYC are currently aglow with job offers… So, you just know Shelly Lazarus is running around the halls at O&M threatening the next person to leave with non-stop bitch slappin’ if they even think about it… And Shelly could do it… Believe me!
