Loved that bit on Marketing VOX about perennial “I shall survive” Mark Kvamme in his keynote address at this week's Ad:Tech San Francisco tradeshow, Sequoia Capital Partner Mark Kvamme predicted internet advertising would be a $35 billion market in 2008, nearly double the $18 billion predicted by the IAB. At the heart of his prediction is his belief that advertisers will see the value in online advertising and siphon dollars from TV. Kvamme said TV reaches 32 percent of the population, but 38 percent of ad dollars are allocated to it; the web, meanwhile, reaches 32 percent of people but internet advertising captures a mere five percent of ad dollars. TV CPMs are around $64, contrasted to $10-30 online. OK, enough of the boring statistics… Here’s what I want to know… Mark Kvamme was one of the founders of CKS in Silicon Valley back in the glory days of the Dot.Com boom. After CKS’s merger with half a dozen other companies, everything imploded. But, Mark Kvamme survives, now at Sequoia, thanks to his billionaire Dad. But I always remember seeing his CV on the CKS Web site, which included the bit were he was “International Marketing Director” for the AppleII. Problem was, if you worked back the time line on this BS resume… While he was swanning around the world promoting Apple, he would have been 14 years old!![]()
So, I could play the piano backwards, standing on my head when I was eight. This Kvamme jerk running around the world at fourteen, is no big deal! I was dead twenty years later!

Thought you should know that I started at Apple in June 1980 at the ripe old age of 19. I was the International Product Manager for the Apple II in 1983 and 1984 at age 22 and 23 respectively.
And I wish I could play the piano standing forwards let alone backwards.
Best of luck with your blog,
Mark
