Interesting piece about how bad pharmaceutical advertising is getting by Dr. Peter Rost in Wednesday’s Huffington Post. He talks about how his first job in the U.S. in 1987 was for a medical advertising agency in L.A. The boss who owned the agency was known as "Stormin' Norman," because of his temper. He took a liking to Dr. Rost, regularly taking him to lunch in his silver Jaguar. Best of all though was his description of the Ad Agency business after thirty years in it. "They're all whores," he used to say. "They'd do anything get a new client, even prostitute themselves." Couldn’t have put it any better myself. Anyway Dr. Rost goes into an interesting rant about the current state of pharmaceutical advertising and its use of sexual innuendoes! An interesting take on a part of the ad industry that doesn’t get much publicity. Apart from all the awful “Purple Pill” and other mystery medicine ads we get exposed to! Well worth a read.![]()
This is the ad that upset Dr. Rost. Can't say I blame him.

I call it Pharmasutra - an orgy of Medaphors.
