I always love the way company CEO’s end up getting credit for the tag lines associated with their advertising. I’m tired of reading how Jack Welch came up with “We bring good things to life” I know at least half a dozen people who claim to have written that. Probably none of them did! The latest is the number of people (including Jonathan Schwartz in his blog) talking about ex-CEO of Sun, Scott McNealy came up with “The Network is the Computer.” Which in my humble opinion is one of the greatest tag lines around. Well guess what? Scott didn’t come up that one with it either. It was co-founder of Sun, John Gage, but a guy I used to work with in California made it work in Sun's advertising. His name was Tom Tawa. But I guess I’ll get tons of emails from bozos who claim it was them! That’s the ad biz!![]()
The network is the what?
