Loved the bit in today’s AdAge about TV acting chimps getting an across-the-board, 25% to 30% pay increase last year without so much as a union meeting or strike threat. The reason these guys are on a roll is because quite a few have recently retired! No doubt to a Chimp retirement complex in Florida! And everyone seems to have gone ape about using apes in their advertising (ouch!) Seems like they’re in everything recently from employment agency to beer spots. Next thing you know, they’ll be working in ad agencies… Although based on my many years in the biz, I think quite a few of them already are!
