The latest version of people making TV ads that rely on some kind of really bad mélange of long dead star footage with new star footage of people you already thought were long dead, is exemplified by the new Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton spots created to promote tourism in their home state of Tennessee. Chandler Ehrlich, an independent shop in Memphis, Tenn., conceived the ad, which shows an image of Elvis that’s been digitally altered. The spot uses a 10-second scene from the 1967 Elvis film, Clambake. Elvis is seen driving in a red convertible with Parton beside him. Chandler Ehrlich's creative staff reviewed more than 20 hours of Elvis' films to find the scene. To which I have to say… Why would you bother? I mean unless you’re a completely brain moronic fan of either!!! "We were looking for entertainment icons who represent Tennessee and support the state's theme of "The Stage Is Set for You," so Dolly Parton and Elvis were obvious choices," said Mike Leon, chief creative officer at Chandler Ehrlich. "Their popularity transcends nationalities, cultures, even generations, and having the both from Tennessee is a true testament to the state's cultural heritage." Yeahh, right Mike, so why will you not feature deep fried banana and peanut butter sandwiches along with silicon breast implants? It’s also a reflection on Tennessee culture! ![]()
I aint dead... I'm in hiding... But certainly not in Tennessee!

They were also going to do a tie-in with McDonalds, but the estate nixed it at the last sec:
"Whoa, Dolly, pull over, I gotta get me a few number fives – and a large Diet Coke."
;-p
