Please excuse my continuing interest in the NSA/Qwest/Nacchio story… It’s not strictly advertising, but having done all Qwest’s brand advertising for four years, dealing with Nacchio on a regular basis (The best client I ever worked with, by the way) I am intrigued by the latest news in the Rocky Mountain News. Apparently legal experts think that Nacchio's decision in 2001 not to give calling records to the NSA will help his defense against 42 criminal counts of insider trading and a slew of civil fraud lawsuits. It’s all a bit convoluted, but apparently Nacchio will claim that because of his refusal to play patsy with the feds, Qwest lost out on a lot of promised government business! Hey wouldn’t surprise me with the recent news that government contracts have been refused to non Bush supporters. Ya think that could happen in a democracy… Duhhh! Anyway, hope Joe gets away with it. I liked him and he let me do some kick-ass advertising!![]()
It's too early to say if I'll run. But, if I do, George Parker's doing the advertising!
