Interesting piece in Der Spiegel today about a rerun of the famous 1976 blind taste test between French and Californian wines. It would appear that the Californians have won. You can read the whole piece here. But, having done a ton of advertising for wines, both here and in Europe, I have a couple of questions… All the Californians are varietals… Cabernet Sauvignon etc… All the French are blends, particularly the Bordeaux, so the comparison is not exactly apples to apples. The other thing is all the wines were at least thirty years old. Most Americans drink wine very young, and in fact most wineries create them that way. Perhaps we are too impatient. Anyway, it’s an interesting piece, I just know everything they tasted is probably well outside my price range!![]()
French, American, I don't care if it's Chinese. Just keep it coming!
