News out of London today that Euro RSCG Worldwide has won the global Reckitt Benckiser ad account, which is really bad news for JWT as this is a major financial body blow. It had been assumed that both agencies would share the business. The win could be worth as much as $1.5bn in worldwide billings. It will come as a shock to JWT, which confidently expected to retain a sizeable portion of the business. Euro and JWT had an equal split of Reckitt's account. The remainder being held by McCann. Reckitt originally called a review of all three agencies, Euro, JWT and McCann’s, with the aim of reducing its roster from three to two. Each was asked to produce a TV spot for one of three of the company's brands: Clearasil, by McCann’s; Veet, by JWT; and Air Wick, by Euro. Looks like Euro’s effort came up smeling like a rose (groan!) Anyway, this is really going to ruin the “Poisoned Dwarf’s” weekend. WPP’ers are advised to keep clear of the basement!![]()
Looks like I'll just have to make do with watching the World Cup!
