Advertising is probably the most cyclical business in the world. One year you’re a hero, the next you’re dog meet. Today’s news that Hewlett-Packard has fired Stone Yamashita of San Francisco as its Brand Identity and Strategy consultant shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Could be because in their very flashy book/new business piece “Chemistry” they wax eloquently about how wonderful and inspiring Carly Fiorina is to work for. Guaranteed not to make a very favorable impression on the management who took over from Carly and have since been correcting the abysmal mess she made of things before leaving with a $45 million golden parachute. First rule… Never lock yourself into the client, always lock yourself into the company!![]()
Well, you certainly got that right!
