Considering America’s obsession with golf, I wasn’t surprised to read that some bright spark has come up with another alternative to traditional advertising by creating golf practice mats that display the logo of sponsors in golf course practice areas. The mats are part of a new program called "Virtual Turf." Made by 2aTEE Golf in New York, and targeted at high-end golf courses that want to offer members a realistic feel for the golf course when they are warming up. What did blow me away though was the cost of these things… Rates for the mats are $15,975 per course per year, with the average course using 15 mats. That adds up to nearly a quarter of a million dollars a year for just providing a few plastic mats with a crummy logo on them! Why can’t I think of a scam like that?![]()
I don't need a mat... 'Cos I don't need to practice!
