Why am I somewhat under whelmed by today’s news that if you want to attract customers from the wealthiest sections of society, don’t hire a celebrity endorser? Well, that’s what a survey released Thursday from the American Affluence Research Center, a marketing and economic data service in Miami says. The study’s respondents were asked whether their interest in a particular brand had been increased during the prior five years by an association with a celebrity. They were asked about products that included golf equipment, financial services, designer apparel and cosmetics. Among men, only 19% said they had been influenced in their golf purchases. OK, so all those millions Tiger makes pimping WASP golf gear should really have gone to Hurricane Katrina relief? Yeah, right, Tiger Baby?![]()
Hey, I endorse stuff for money. Anyone's stuff. Anyone's money! It's called advertising.
