Here's some pleasant news for parents (But at the moment, only in Britain) who despair of their sons ever tearing themselves away from TV’s, game consoles and iPods: a book containing vital information on playing outdoor games, constructing paper airplanes and climbing trees is currently topping Amazon.co.uk's “Hot 100 Books” list. According to UK paper The Mirror, sales of The Dangerous Book for Boys - written by a former English teacher and his brother - and released last month, have rocketed by 700 per cent in the last week. Other activities covered in the book include tree house-building, stone-skimming and catapult manufacture. Pirates, dinosaurs and monsters feature, as do Lord Nelson, Scott of the Antarctic and other heroes. An Amazon spokesman said, "Despite the popularity of iPods, My Space and video games, the success of this book seems to indicate a return to the simpler childhood pleasures of 50 years ago." Mmmm. Wonder what The Dangerous Book for Girls would be about? Boys maybe?![]()
The British boys favorite pastime... Conkers... Look it up!

George, did you know I lived in England for 4 years as a kid? One of the things I miss most (after snooker, darts, cricket, and Yorkie bars) is Conkers. Fun times.
