Wired has an interesting interview with the “Wizened of Oz” about the future of communications. He says that mass media will continue to exist, giving American Idol, with its 35 million viewers as an example. Niches have a future also, naming his “Speed Channel,” which is mostly NASCAR, stuff as an example. So now you know you can look forward to years of absolutely mind numbing programming. When asked about Google, he answered “I like those guys, but there’s a bit of arrogance. They could have bought MySpace three months before we did for half the price. They thought it was nothing special and they could do it easily.” Meantime MySpace is turning into a non-stop promotional vehicle for the Fox channels. On content versus distribution, he said… “Distribution was king – you couldn’t get a cable channel going in this country without John Malone. But when real broadband arrives, owning distribution will be less and less important.” So there you have it… The kind of content you can expect from News Corporation will guarantee the continuing dumbing down of America!![]()
Would you buy a used TV program from this man?
