
I’m beginning to smell another dot com boom! Only this time it’s not about buying dog food online or designing your own fashions for hours and hours ‘cos you only had a dial-up connection. No, the days of WebVan and Boo are long gone… Now it’s all about “Social Networking” or sharing dumb videos you shot in your bedroom. The news that Gather.com, a site to upload and share user-generated content online, has named Hill Holliday as its agency of record, led me to check out the site. It’s the usual brain-dead collection of recipes, movie reviews and useless trivia that all the other MySpace wannabes are peddling. But hey, you never know, the Wizened of Oz may come along and buy ya for a few billion. In the meantime, a word of advice to Hill Holliday… Make sure they pay their media bills up front!![]()
