
Staying on the auto front, news today that after postponing the U.S. launch of the Smart car and scuttling a review in the middle of last year, DaimlerChrysler has now chosen BBDO to handle the advertising for the brand in the U.S. The Smart car is supposed to hit the US market in 2008, according to its Web site, http://www.usa.smart.com Which although pleasant to look at tells you virtually nothing about the mechanics and specs for the car, which is kinda strange as one of its major features is its great fuel economy. Maybe they’re saving that for the launch campaign. Knowing BBD&O’s reputation in the ad biz for being star obsessed, I full expect that in every commercial the tiny two seater to be packed with perennial BBD&O favorites Jason Alexander, Cindy Crawford, Michael Jackson and Donald Trump! ![]()
