Today’s AdAge goes on and on about how the TV is now chock-full of didactic Brits telling whimpering Americans how to sing, dance, cook, clean their houses and raise their kids. On the networks alone, AdAge counted 10 such awful personalities. Top of the list, is the original "mean Brit," Simon Cowell, followed by Nigel Lythgoe ("So You Think You Can Dance?") and Piers Morgan ("America's Got Talent"). Then the three uniformed babysitters on Fox's "Nanny 911" and ABC's "SuperNanny." There's also Peter Jones, the straight-laced suit on the now-defunct "American Inventor" (also a Simon Cowell creation), and the foul-mouthed chef ex-footballer, Gordon Ramsay on "Hell's Kitchen." On cable. Lifetime airs the filthy "How Clean Is Your House?" with Brits Kim and Aggie. Repeats of NBC's "The Weakest Link," starring chilly Anne Robinson, are now airing on USA. Ms. Robinson, "You are the weakest link. Goodbye," was voted the rudest woman on TV by a British magazine. Apart from the fact that PBS, Masterpiece Theatre and A&E have brought somewhat more Thespian Worthy Fare… If you ever get over the pond and after checking into your hotel you turn on the “telly,” You’ll find that 80% of the stuff over there is equally as bad as 80% of the stuff over here. Actually, the same applies to France, Italy, Spain or wherever. Which only goes to prove… TV melts your brain. Goodbye!![]()
I warned you!
