I’ve posted on this before, but I am becoming increasingly convinced that we are looking at a possible dot.com deja vue, all over again! That’s right, the bad old days of the late nineties, when dumpster loads of money were being shoveled into the “Next Big Thing.” Now, every day we read about the next “Alliance of the Century!” Microsoft and Facebook just inked a major deal in which Microsoft will serve as the exclusive seller and provider of banner ads and sponsored links for Facebook. Google announced a deal to offer eBay search advertising outside the U.S. Plus, both companies will work on "click-to-call" ads linking online shoppers to customer service people. And in a recent deal estimated at nearly $1 billion over three years, Google agreed to provide News Corp.'s Fox Interactive Media division with search functions and advertising on MySpace. Now, YouTube says it's talking with record labels to post music videos online; Viacom's MTV Networks is planning to distribute video clips over Google's Internet ad network; and NBC said it will create an "NBC Channel" on YouTube for its fall TV shows. All I can say is… If there are any parallels with just six short years ago, a lot of people are going to lose a lot of money. And most of them won’t even realize, let alone acknowledge, they only have themselves to blame! ![]()
Well Hell Steve... If you don't know, sure as heck I don't!
