Information Technology marketing spending will increase by 7.5% in 2006 over 2005, the highest growth rate in four years, according to new data from IDC. In its Tech Benchmark Survey, based on interviews with 95 senior tech marketers, it found that, while tech marketing investment will climb this year, it barely outpaces global IT spending, which will be up 7.0% in 2006. So my question is… Where is all this money going? Back in the glory days of the nineties there were more technology publications than you could shake a stick at. Most, no longer exist, or are surviving in some sort of anemic online form. OK, the big guys still pony up dumpster loads of dough to sponsor the same old golf tournaments everyone else is sponsoring – Plus they get to play a couple of holes with Tiger – After coughing up millions for the privilege. Meantime, the IT mags still surviving continue to run the same old cliché ads they’ve always run. But then, that’s not the media’s fault. It’s the lethal dead headed, lets do the same old crap as usual attitude of the clients and their agencies!![]()
It's all relative!
