According to a new “Hitwise” competitive intelligence study, MySpace.com passed Yahoo! Mail in the first week of July, becoming the number one ranked website in the U.S. based on market share of visits. Which when you consider it was virtually unknown a couple of years ago, is pretty amazing. And even more stunning is that in the social networking space, the one investors are currently shoveling buckets of money into, MySpace accounts for 79.9 percent of the total market share of visits, with the number two site, Facebook, garnering a pathetic 7.5 percent share. Seems like the “Wizened of Oz” bought himself a winner! Or at least until the bottom drops out of that whole scene and the juvenile digerati move on to “The Next Thing.”![]()
