Was it only a few years ago that Carly Fiorina was being touted as der vunder frau who was about to bring HP to the shining mount of untold profitability and global sales, only to see it collapse all around her as market share and income rapidly declined, particularly after her disastrous merger with Compaq. But hey, she walked away with a golden parachute of $50 million or so and there was even talk for a while that she might end up heading the World Bank!!! Can you image what state the world’s economy would be in if she had been in control for the last couple of years? Today’s news that Hewlett-Packard's quarterly revenue was up 5 percent compared with a year ago, and the computer and printer giant's profit was up sharply, only goes to prove that sometimes, you have to keep a good woman down. Especially if she’s a raging egomaniac! But I will say, between her and my old pal, Gary Elliott, she did encourage Goodby Silverstein to produce some truly kick-ass advertising.
So, after everyone on the board screwed me, I found my true vocation. OK?
I only short stocks that have female CEOs. If you doubt the soundness of this strategy, do some DD.
