Anyone want to make a guess how many years people have been talking about the “Paperless Office?” Well, now it seems Xerox may have come up with the “Less Paper Office!” They have just announced something called “Transient Documents,” that they expect to market within 18 months. Basically what this means is paper that you can reuse, over and over again because whatever is on it, disappears after 16 hours. Of course, if the content is something you want to preserve, you might want to think twice before printing it on a “Transient Document.” But you know what? I remember when Xerox announced “Electronic Paper” that you could mark up with a stylus and then input into a computer. That was supposed to hit the market in 18 months. Unfortunately they made that announcement about eight years ago! ![]()
So can we relax now?

If the content is something that you only need for 16 hours, why are you printing it on paper at all? Maybe there's a benefit in there that I just can't see. Reusable handouts for meetings?
