I have to admit that I haven’t yet seen the new TV spots from Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos for its "America runs on Dunkin'" campaign for Dunkin' Donuts. But as they say it consists of everyday occurrences that touch consumers' lives, I can’t admit to being beside myself in anticipation. Apparently the scenarios include: people over-sleeping despite setting their alarms, sneaking out for a lunchtime job interview, and a couple of spots starring New England Patriots' linebacker Richard Seymour (Wow, another overpaid jock getting overpaid to sell crap he couldn’t care less about!) In the words of agency group creative director fuehrer Tim Cawley, "The whole campaign is about getting on your way, attacking your to-do list and being productive." Jeez Tim, sounds like you sucked that one straight off the “Creative Brief!” Supposedly the aim is to position Dunkin' as the chain that serves "lattes for the rest of us," while poking fun at pretentious Starbucks-style coffee chains, with patrons attempting to order hard-to-pronounce lattes. Hey guys… That’s what the millions of poseurs who pay ten bucks a time for froth at Starbucks love about the place. It makes them feel superior. Who wants to be down in the mire with the “Dunkin Dufuses?” ![]()
Personally, I think it should be... "Lattes for all of me!"
