I just read a very disturbing interview with Fox Interactive President Ross Levinsohn on AlwaysOn.com and what he is hoping to achieve with his company's MySpace acquisition. It isn’t so much about what his plans are for the multi-million dollar purchase that surprises me, but how he runs his kids life. Here’s an extract… “The difference in generations is that young people are now programmed. I have a 3-1/2 year old, and she's scheduled: She goes to school, comes home, takes a nap, has a play date, has a ballet recital, has dinner, and goes to sleep. She has very little 'free' time. As you get older, it’s the same thing. In contrast, when we were kids, we played in the yard, which gave us an opportunity to express ourselves uniquely, to create.” His kid is 3-1/2 years old for crying out loud, and from the sound of it, she isn’t scheduled, as he puts it, she’s programmed. What will the poor sod be like in ten years? ![]()
