As a follow on to my post about Jimmy Dean’s Sausage, pancake and chocolate chip fiasco, Rory over at BrandWeek has a post about the latest thing for dogs, Pedigree Ice Cream Sandwich Treats for Dogs. This ridiculous product from Unilever Ice Cream’s Good Humor brand was created in part because, they say… “Like humans, some dogs are lactose-intolerant and cannot enjoy ice cream.” That’s right, they said some dogs can’t enjoy ice cream, next thing you know, they’ll be telling us they can also be allergic to champagne. They also say it’s beneficial because dog owners can feel good about giving their pets a treat that not only tastes delicious but also is low in fat, has no sugar added and contains protein, vitamins and minerals.
