AdWeek reports that four agencies are awaiting the test results of creative presentations they made to Sony within the last two weeks. These include, Berlin Cameron United, Young & Rubicam and DraftFCB, all in New York, and Publicis’s Fallon in
London . Apparently Sony is looking for a global corporate brand campaign. So, in typical big company corporate gobbledyspeak they issued this statement: "Following a comprehensive global brand analysis, we are beginning to explore the possibility of a new branding campaign for Sony. Sony's brand is one of the company's greatest assets, and through this project we hope to achieve maximum leverage for Sony's businesses, individually and collectively." OK. Yes I agree, Sony does have a very valuable brand, but as Fallon already does all the advertising for Sony in Europe, a
nd incidentally does a far better job than anyone has done for years over here. Why are you having a review, when one of the contenders has more than proved themselves? OK, I know, stupid question… Because you can!
So, a couple of batteries caught fire. Big deal. A few ads will soon fix that!
