
There’s a very interesting article in The Hollywood Reporter about how we are going to see the first viable new-media successor to broadcast and cable television with the combination of Google's search expertise and YouTube's stranglehold on Internet video. The Reporter claims, and I agree, that broadcast and cable TV have squandered the ad-supported critical mass they have enjoyed for years in what was once the only home screen. As the Reporter puts it… There will be no going back from a future of on-demand digital TV programs, movies, music, data and communications, and the Google-YouTube marriage will provide the infrastructure and tools needed to make a killing on Web-based video. More bad news for ad agencies.![]()
