With the news that PC marketer Gateway has returned its $42 million media account to Initiative media buying group leaving Aegis' Carat to return to the Interpublic Group of Cos. media agency, which held the account through 2003. I have just one question to ask… Not having seen a single Gateway ad for at least the last year, where the heck have they been spending that $42 million? In fact, it’s probably since Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Miami, resigned as the company's creative agency in 2005, citing an inability to "agree on the strategic direction of the brand." Which means the client wouldn’t sign off on anything the agency presented. At one point they were the number 3 PC company in America. Don’t know where they are now since founder Ted Waitt left to focus on his charity, the Waitt Foundation. Who’s primary function is keeping Ted supplied with Race cars, yachts and other expensive “Big Boy Toys.” ![]()
See Ya at the show, Ted!
