It’s funny how the Japanese approach TV ad’s, many of them are just outrageously silly, with faux “schoolgirls” fawning over older men. Come to think of it, every time I’ve been to Japan, all their newscasts are like that too. Others are men in purple and yellow suits who shout and laugh all the time (think “Lost in translation”) Others use American film stars doing it for the money (Think Sylvester Stallone for Ito Ham) Then others just slavishly copy the original American spots. The new Apple MAC ads are a perfect example of this. They've even got the guys appearing in them to wear identical clothes to the guys in the US version. Not being fluent in Japanese, I have no idea what they are saying but it looks like a word-for-word literal translation. Still, I suppose we wouldn’t know the difference if we watched an Americanized version of a Japanese campaign.![]()

If I'm ham, how would you like to end up as mincemeat?
