Here’s a fairly dumb idea… Yahoo has decided it will begin initial testing the delivery of graphic based advertising to cell phones in the later this week. The test phase will consist of really, really small banner ads! Or, as Julie Ask, an analyst with Jupiter Research so succinctly put it, "The challenge is that because cellphone screens have limited real estate, ads have to more relevant.” Yeah, no kidding. The idea of putting banner ads on cell phones isn’t new, but advertisers are wondering how the majority of mobile users will react to advertising on their screens. But, marketers are always looking for the “Next Big Thing.” So they’re willing to take a stab at it as more mobile phone users upgrade to phones with fast Internet access and become more familiar with options like texting and local search. My prophecy, unless the make the screen bigger than the phone flashing banner ads over your postage stamp sized web page is going to turn a lot of people off.![]()

So, when I bought the phone, they gave me this to go with it!
