Today’s news that Clear Channel, America's humungous radio station conglomerate, has accepted a $26.7 billion buyout offer from private equity investors, leads me to ask… why? OK, maybe I’m being a trifle facetious here (Me?) because every Clear Channel radio station I have ever listened to is pure, unadulterated rubbish… But, when you consider that they do have a huge market share, covering about eighty percent of the entire American radio audience, you are led to the inescapable conclusion that maybe that’s what the great American public wants to listen to 24/7/365… In which case, all I can say is, what the heck do I know?![]()

Actually, what I mean't to say was "More is more!" Which very often works out as a great deal less. If you know what I mean.

George, this old cowboy spent twenty years in radio and most of it in country music stations. I drive arond 25,ooo miles per year chasing racetracks and state fairs. I can't stand today's music driven radio stations. I am a pro at selecting my favorite CD. In Omaha the Clear Channel statios play the same tired music the same time every day. Just not on my car radio.
