Advertising, ad campaigns, ad agencies, and the people that make it happen

According  to a piece in the New York Post, Wall-Mart picked a very strange way to break the news of who had won the shoot-out to the finalists for its $580 million account. Julie Roehm, Wall-Mart’s Marketing Director took the four finalists, GSD&M, Ogilvy, The Martin Agency and Draft/FCB, to an Eagles concert. As soon as the concert ended and everyone had filed out onto the streets she dropped the boom and told three of them they were losers! That’s right, on the street. Draft/FCB won the account, which is no surprise as Ms. Roehm had practically moved in with Howard Draft, CEO of Draft/FCB for the previous six months. Further proof Big Dumb Agencies (BDA’s) continue getting dumber.

Wanna bet If the Wall-Mart account was up for grabs in the future, the same BDA's would do it all over again!
