A los Angeles woman is suing Kraft Foods for selling a guacamole dip that contains less than 2% avocado! Apparently, the Kraft product, which is one of the best selling dips in the country has modified food starch, coconut and soybean oils, and lots and lots of bright green food coloring, but virtually no avocado. Think of it like one of those martini's "dry freaks" make by waving the vermouth cork over the cocktail shaker. Just substitute an avocado for the cork. It would seem that unlike peanut butter, which by law must contain at least 90% peanuts, the FDA thinks it's OK to make guacamole out of umbrella handles - Green ones, I assume! When questioned on the pending legal case, Kraft SpokesHack, Claire Regen replied... "We think customers understand that it isn't made from avocado!" Well OK then, So in future you can assume that anything you buy from Kraft isn't going to be what it claims to be. Heads will likely roll for this. But that's OK, they'll probably use them to make ketchup.
Well, that should see Kraft through the next couple of years!
