The New York Times has just conducted an informal poll of some advertising executives to divine upcoming trends. And guess what? Agencies, are wondering, among other things, how the online world is intruding into offline reality. Life online will become an inseparable part of the physical world, according to some execs. Well, no wonder these guys get the big bucks! Another genius forecasts that more companies will start adding social-networking and user-generated tools onto their intranets, and that some retailers will begin using online shopping behavior to determine how to design and stock their bricks-and-mortar stores. User-generated ads won't go away, but will be co-opted… "Consumers are demanding and getting a seat at the table and defining what the brand experience is about," said Allen P. Adamson, MD of Landor Associates, a WPP brand consultancy. But brands will try to retain a greater measure of control over consumer-made ads. Well, yes, wouldn’t they have TOTAL control over anything that goes out on media they’ve paid for? Boy! Maybe I should try and get a job in advertising.
.
I see this strange thing called the Internet. I don't understand it. It's nothing like a TV commercial!

Ah! George! Your comments (and Dec 18th's) are razor sharp: too true. A reminder though: common sense is not so common!!!! Unfortunately, "sad but true."
Do stay with it though. Someone, indeed, many, do need to (a) let it out and (b) speak out!
Thanks.
